Groggy again today, as Riley decided to pace around the room all night, silently asking to be let out, then proving to have no real plans for his time once he got out. The first time he dragged me out of bed (~4am), I walked out, sleep-addled and blurry-eyed, into a total lunar eclipse, about which I had not heard. This is an odd thing to see when you're not expecting it, and it took a moment to bring enough neurons online to tell me what I was looking at. Fortunately, I was not out of it enough to scream, "My god! What have they done to the moon!" in a fit of supernatural terror. There are some decent pictures of the eclipse here.

the moon was something last night even before this eclipse (which I have to take your word for). I was dragged out of bed at 11, thinking that I had been tossing and turning for an eternity of insomia, only to realize that it had been about 45 minutes. It's sort of comforting to know I'm not the only one dragging around in the middle of the night.

Nice pictures. I watched the eclipse that morning too, but I actually set my alarm to catch it. My dog slept right through it (of course, she is not a senior citizen like Riley). I caught the full lunar eclipse from a beach in Puerto Rico a few years back. It was really cool for a while, however it was long and slow and a little stray dog was jumping/chewing on my leg for a good part of it. I guess that sums up the range of dog/eclipse experiences, unless of course you know anyone who's been attacked by rottweilers during a lunar eclipse.
